Neil Aitken

Neil Aitken is a former computer games programmer, the founding editor of Boxcar Poetry Review, and the author of The Lost Country of Sight, which won the 2007 Philip Levine Prize and was published by Anhinga Press, as well as Leviathan, a poetry chapbook forthcoming from Hyacinth Girl Press. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, he was raised in Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and various parts of the western United States and Canada. His poems have appeared in American Literary Review, The Collagist, Crab Orchard Review, Lantern Review, Ninth Letter, The Normal School, and elsewhere. A proud Kundiman Poetry Fellow, he holds both an MFA in Creative Writing from UC Riverside and a Ph.D. in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Southern California. After a few years of writing and working in the Pacific Northwest, he recently moved back to Canada and now resides in Regina, Saskatchewan.
